Jonathan R Goff, MD
Dr. Goff is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with 20 years of experience working in Marin County, California. He has advanced knowledge and training in all aspects of shoulder surgery and specializes in major reconstruction procedures of the shoulder, including total shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder arthroplasty, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, instability procedures, fracture repair, revision surgery, and the care of throwing athletes. His clinical practice focuses on sports medicine including knee arthroscopy, pediatric orthopedics, high school and college athletes. Dr. Goff lives in Marin County with his family and enjoys mountain biking and SCUBA diving.

Jonathan Goff is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who has practiced in Marin County for the past 19years. He is dedicated to ensuring that Marin Health continues to provide exceptional, accessible, and fiscally responsible healthcare for the community.
Throughout his career, Dr. Goff has cared for patients of all ages—from student athletes and active adults to seniors requiring complex reconstructive surgery. He brings extensive healthcare leadership experience, having served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Marin General Hospital and as along-standing member of the governing board of Marin Specialty Surgery Center.
Dr. Goff earned his medical degree from Georgetown University, completed orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Virginia, and pursued advanced fellowship training in shoulder surgery atHarvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the University ofZurich in Switzerland. His career has been guided by a commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, accountability, and patient-centered care.
As a Marin Health Medical District Board member, Dr. Goff will work to strengthen access to high-quality healthcare, support and retain outstanding physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals, promote sound financial stewardship, and ensure that Marin Health remains responsive to the evolving needs of the community.
Marin County has been home to Dr. Goff and his family for nearly two decades. He believes outstanding medical care is built on trust, teamwork, and a shared commitment to patient care. Dr. Goff will advocate for physicians, nurses, and hospital staff who provide exceptional care every day and is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and accountability while preserving Marin Health as a trusted institution for future generations.

Orthopedic Surgery Residency and Harvard Intercontinental Shoulder Fellowship.
During his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, Dr. Goff was selected to be the Harvard Intercontinental Shoulder Fellow. The fellowship consisted of six months under the mentorship of Dr. Jon JP Warner, Dr. Tom Holovacs, and Dr. Laurence D. Higgins at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. The second 6 months of the fellowship was spent in Switzerland, at the University of Zurich, Balgrist, under the mentorship of Professor Christian Gerber. The Intercontinental Shoulder Fellowship provided Dr. Goff with the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe and work with several master shoulder surgeons including Dr. Gilles Walch in Lyon, France and Dr. Laurent Lafosse in Annecy, France.

Team Physician.
Dr. Goff lives in Marin County with his family and enjoys both mountain and road biking. He is also a certified Scuba Diver. Dr. Goff has served as a team physician for the United States Ski Team working with both the Men’s Alpine Team and the Combined Freestyle Team.
